Cardio with Clara

I've never made a movie in iMovie before, or exported one, and definitely never uploaded one to the internet. So I hope this works. This video will help us all remember that standing, crawling, and coordination don't come easy. You have to work for it. I like how you can see the progress that Clara's making in the week or so that I've been collecting video for this. Note the effort it takes to stand in the crib at first and how she just pops up at the end. It was hard for me to whip out the camera fast enough to tape her before she was standing already. This morning I was recording her squirm around on the floor and she sat up from the crawl position for the first time (that I've noticed.) And I have it all down for posterity. Awesome.

House Update

So we decided to fix up the kitchen floor in our new old house because the painted plywood just wasn't...we just weren't in love. And what did we find? Should we keep it?I think that's linoleum or vinyl. I don't know how to tell the difference. We also found this under the linoleum in the fridge space:
Rot! Scary! Can you imagine having a fridge land on your head while doing laundry in the basement? Because I can, and it's not pretty. Cameron's turning out to be pretty handy. If he doesn't know how to do something he just reads the internet until he figures it out. He even rewired a room in our house to include some grounded outlets. I was a little skeptical and had my phone at the ready to call 911, but he did an excellent job. Hopefully very very soon I will post some "after" pictures. Functional kitchens are a wonderful thing, not to be taken for granted. If you have a working sink in your kitchen, you should kiss it right now. Also I will be posting a cheesy video that I'm making in iMovie of, you guessed it, Clara. What kind of parent would I be if I didn't create cheesy videos of my brawny baby (it's actually a workout video) to post on the internet?

Clara's Adventures in Getting Chubby

Here are the latest and greatest pictures of Clara. These pictures aren't the most exciting considering she's not capable of doing much at this point except look cute and flail her arms and legs about. But that's enough for me. I hear babies grow out of the adorable stage and start being rambunctious and rebellious at some point, so I'm enjoying the helplessness while we can. Actually she did start grinning and cooing recently, in fact she can string together entire sentences made up of vowel sounds.

And if you look closely you might be able to see her cheeks expanding at an incredible rate. That is her other great accomplishment. She recently had her two month check up where we verified that she has been ballooning since birth, gaining 5.5 lbs and 3 inches in length. That's our girl!

I think all layers of fat she's building up on her thighs helped to her take her immunization shots like a champ. She screamed, sure, so would I if I got stabbed repeatedly with a three inch needle, but she followed up the screaming with a nice long nap. I had heard horror stories about babies screaming like banshees for the rest of the day after getting their shots so I was little apprehensive before going in. But I guess I worried needlessly, she hasn't slept so soundly in weeks. Anyway, now for the pictures:

Adventures in Christmas Tree Chopping Down and Dragging Home

We picked out a christmas tree from a Christmas tree farm right over the border in Michigan last weekend. Ok, so maybe not as adventurous as ranging though the mountainsides of northern California looking for the perfect pine tree while dodging wild black bears, but you can't beat horse drawn hay rides and free hot chocolate. It was definitely a lot colder than we're used to. Winter is approaching. Someone here told me that Winter doesn't officially begin until December 21st, until then it's just kinda pretending to be Winter. It's not the real thing. Those three inches of snow we got last week? Just a teaser for what's coming.

thanksgiving adventures

We took a trip to Utah for Thanksgiving to reunite with all Cameron's family. We stayed at a well decorated vacation rental in Cottonwood Heights. Clara enjoyed the traveling and bumping and jostling around. The lights on the shuttle bus were especially fascinating.
Airplanes? They put me to sleep, Clara says.
Clara got to meet lots of relatives on the trip and I got to catch up on some sleep while she was being snuggled by them all. Here Aunt Tierra is engaging Clara in deep conversation.

Hanging out with Aunt Tawna after her baby blessing on Saturday. She loved getting blessed. She just stared at her dad the whole time in wonderment. It was so amazing having so much family with us for her blessing. My dad came from Washington and Aunt Emily was there (unfortunately I missed getting a picture with them, hopefully we'll see them again soon) along with loads of local aunts, great-uncles, 1st cousins once removed, etc.
Cameron bravely shouldered the task of dish duty after the big meal. If you look closely you can see the mustache that Cameron is cultivating to raise awareness for the Boys and Girls Club of South Bend. Donations accepted.
and Grandpa carved the roast beast at the Thanksgiving feast.

Saying goodbye for now. Hopefully it won't be too long before we're with family again.

the honeymooners part I

I know it's been a little while, but I just got around to going through the pictures we took on our honeymoon back in October. We voyaged to the eastern states of Virginia and West Virginia where we enjoyed all sorts of climate zones. We flew into Dulles and drove to this cozy little cabin in the mountains where we got snowed in for 2 days. Here's our cabin:

And here is our car getting towed out of the snow that piled up in two days. Fun! Thank goodness for tractors.
The rest of our trip was driving somewhat aimlessly around on scenic mountain passes, stopping at every scenic overlook.

My computer is too slow to handle so this is to be continued when I get more patience or a faster computer.

Chubs doesn't know that I redirected our website to this blogsite that I freshly created, he'll be especially pleased that I depicted us metaphorically as geese flying neck 'n neck, isn't that just so romantic? I thought you'd agree.

Here we are outside the Sacramento temple, lovely day to become man and wife.

We had a wonderful time celebrating at our reception with all our friends and family, which turned out quite nice thanks entirely to the dedicated souls who helped out.

Cameron's mom sewed our bunting from all this fabric I dumped on her. It turned out so fun.

Cameron's sister Tierra organized all the very important details, and I mean all the details.

Cam's cousin Alisa created the lovely flower arrangements from the random grower's bunches we picked up at Costco. We're so blessed to know such talented people.

And of course a big thanks to Cam and I for slaving over the delicious peach-flavored love jam and my fam for decorating them last minute for me and saving my dress super last minute.

*note--I would not recommend to anyone to start making their wedding dress a week before they are going to wear it. Especially if they are going to make it up as they go along and break a bunch of sewing machines in the process. Although it might add a fun element of suspense to the proceedings.

Molly Williams, children's portrait artist and BFF, did a fabulous job as our photographer.

My rocker brother Brad wrote and performed an original song for us.

And thanks to all the fun people who came to celebrate with us, especially Reagan, whose dance moves were the envy of the crowd.
